Belmont Charter School (BCS) was founded in 2002 by the Philadelphia School Reform Commission. Formerly a public school with the Philadelphia School District, BCS is unique in the fact that student enrollment is determined by a geographic catchment area, versus the typical lottery style of enrollment associated with charter schools. Family Charter School (FCS) opened its doors in 1998 with the mission to provide an intensive education program to underserved children in Philadelphia. Recognizing that children living in poverty have historically faced the greatest risk of school failure, FCS seeks to break this cycle by providing high need students with comprehensive educational opportunities. FCS achieves this vision through a lottery style enrollment system, granting priority to those students classified most at risk. |
